The 2015 Austin Mega DO has drawn to a close and, thanks to you, it was the largest and most successful event yet! More than 80 of you came from around the US, Canada, and the UK and enjoyed unparalleled access to an airport and airline operations, live music, tons of great food (including the corn casserole from Stiles Switch BBQ & Brew which caused many of you to ask us to auction that off instead of a Premier Access carpet), and a drink or ten throughout the weekend. Despite the crap weather, we had a great time.
More importantly, we shattered last year's fund raising record for the charities we supported this year, United We Care and Austin Pets Alive. We're still processing the financials and will be submitting the donations through a couple of corporate matching programs that the organizers have access to. Once that process is complete, we'll update everyone with the final totals.
The organizing committee would like to thank Milepoint for their continued generous sponsorship of the Austin Mega DO, as well as United Airlines for what many of you said was the best airport and airline event that you had ever attended. Special thanks to Linda Medina from United for partnering with us to organize Friday's event and who brought a dozen of her co-workers from United's headquarters in Chicago as well as Richard Contreras (AUS station manager) and his local team in Austin, without any of whom the event would not have happened.
We'd also like to thank each participant for joining us in one of the greatest towns in the greatest state on earth. We'll see you next year or perhaps somewhere else...
